The Isle of Man continues to offer a highly attractive business environment, underpinned by a strong regulatory framework, political stability and access to internationally experienced talent.
This information pack has been produced to provide our clients with a clear, practical overview of the Isle of Man employment landscape. Drawing on our day-to-day recruitment activity across the Island, we outline where we are seeing growth, where hiring activity has slowed, how salary levels are shifting, and the key factors employers should be aware of when planning recruitment strategies for the year ahead.
While overall employment levels remain stable, the nature of demand is changing. Businesses are placing greater emphasis on experienced, high-impact hires, regulatory and governance capability, and individuals who can add value quickly in complex and fast-moving environments. At the same time, candidates are more selective, placing increased importance on flexibility, culture, leadership and long-term career prospects alongside salary.
The purpose of this guide is to help employers make informed hiring decisions in 2026. Whether you are planning to expand your team, replace key personnel, or benchmark your current offering against the wider market, this document is designed to support strategic workforce planning and reduce risk in an increasingly competitive recruitment environment.
As a locally based professional financial services recruitment agency, we work closely with local and international businesses across multiple sectors. The insights contained within this pack reflect real time market intelligence rather than theoretical projections, and are intended to serve as a practical reference for decision makers.

In 2025, the Isle of Man’s labour market saw continued pressure from low unemployment and skills shortages. One major development is the approved increase in the minimum wage, rising from £12.25 to £13.46 per hour from 1 April 2026.
This means a minimum salary of £26,257.50 per year for a 37.5 hour week or £24,503.20 per year for a 35 hour week.
In 2025, trust and company administration roles continue to be among the most competitive areas of recruitment on the Isle of Man, alongside compliance. Driven by regulatory changes, increasing corporate governance standards, and the Island’s position as a financial services hub, demand for experienced professionals remains high.
For businesses looking to grow or maintain high-performing teams in these areas, strategic workforce planning and proactive recruitment are more important than ever.
We work closely with our clients to ensure competitive advantages.
The Isle of Man population profile is changing, and these shifts are having a direct impact on the local labour market.
The Island continues to lose a significant number of younger people, particularly those leaving for education and early-career opportunities elsewhere.
This is not unique to the Isle of Man, Jersey and Guernsey face similar demographic challenges, but it reinforces the need for attractive career pathways and competitive employment packages locally.
Looking outside the Isle of Man is becoming an attractive way to secure top talent. In 2025, we connected many fantastic candidates with employers, helped them understand the island and what life here could be like, and maintained a 100% retention rate on all placements from outside the UK.
We take a hands-on approach to supporting international candidates, ensuring a smooth transition and long-term success by assisting with:
We work with skilled candidates in locations such as Mauritius, Malta, Jersey and Guernsey, many of whom already manage UK-based trusts and are familiar with international compliance standards. This enables Isle of Man businesses to access ready-trained professionals who can contribute quickly.
In 2025, the turnaround for a Certificate of Employment (‘COE’) (currently circa 6 weeks) was reduced significantly, making it even easier to get candidates to the island and ready to work in under 3 months from the point of offer. If you would like to discuss workflow planning and the level of experience international candidates can offer, we would be happy to have a confidential consultation at a time convenient to you.
Ongoing conversations with candidates across the Isle of Man market show a clear shift in what professionals value when considering new roles. While salary remains important, it is no longer the sole driver of career decisions.
Businesses that offer a balanced package combining competitive salary, strong benefits, genuine progression, and professional development are consistently more successful in attracting and retaining high-quality candidates. We use this insight to advise clients on structuring roles that align with current candidate expectations, helping ensure offers remain competitive in an increasingly tight labour market.
The following salary guidelines are subject to several variables and market forces;
We are continuing to see a highly changeable market and should any of the below not be in line with expectations, please feel free to reach out to us confidentially and discuss.
This salary survey serves the purpose of presenting the widest possible range for the roles we placed and worked on in 2025 and should be used as a guide only. All salaries are based on full-time permanent positions and benefits/bonuses should be added to these in accordance with company policy.
Trust and Corporate Services was one of the tightest areas of recruitment in 2025 with salaries increasing significantly year on year. We are seeing junior staff gravitating toward the larger businesses that offer good packages and pensions, with more executive-level hires in smaller and medium-sized firms.
| Job Title | Experience | Minimum | Maximum |
|---|---|---|---|

| Administrator | 1-3 years’ experience, keen to progress and study. | £30,000 | £40,000 |

This is one area where attracting talent from other jurisdictions remains a particularly valuable option for clients.
With the imminent rise in the minimum wage, we are already seeing many businesses seeking more experienced professionals rather than typical trainee candidates. We anticipate a tightening market over the coming years, with demand increasing and salaries rising. Changes to the minimum salaries of candidates looking to relocate to the Island will add further pressure to the industry.

Compliance remains one of the most competitive areas of recruitment, exacerbated by MONEYVAL inspections and increased regulatory pressure. We have seen salaries increase significantly in 2025, with many senior candidates retiring and a lack of training and development in previous years now coming into effect. We anticipate this to continue into 2026; however, we are seeing more trainee and mid-level roles becoming available, with companies that offer professional qualifications and development opportunities seeing better staff retention.

MONEYVAL are the Committee of Experts on the Evaluation of Anti-Money Laundering (‘AML’) Measures and the Financing of Terrorism. The latest round of MONEYVAL inspections is expected to take place on the Island in October 2026. There is a noticeable nervousness for those in compliance roles, AML roles and those who hold Directorship positions, particularly in response to the Isle of Man Financial Services Authority (‘IOMFSA’) consultation on a new civil penalties regime to fine individuals who have been involved with serious AML breaches.
It is expected that the IOMFSA and the Isle of Man Gambling Supervision Commission (‘IOMGSC’) will be increasing supervision and enforcement activities in the run-up to the inspection.
